Robotics Competition

                                  Robotics Competition

On Saturday, December 5th 2015, I had a robotics competition. My team name is Thinkronauts. We are green and purple. Our shirts are green. We had to get there at 7:30 am. We set up our pit and then handed out candy. My team is Joey, Camden, Dylan, Nicholas, and Will. I am on a team with all boys. I cannot believe it. First, after we had our first match, we went up to judging. First we went into the core values judging. We had to work together to make a "birthday" present for one of our mentors. Next, we went to robot judging. We had to show our programs to the judges. None of them worked. Finally, we went to presentation judging. Then, we ate lunch. After that, we had another match at 3:30. Next, we just sat and watched because we were not in the finals. When they were done with all the matches, they handed out all the awards. Every team got a participation award. That was the only award our team got. Even though we didn't get a trophy, we all still had a lot of fun. I loved our first robotics competition.

  1. Dear Lainie

I think it's great that you're on a team with all boys for robotics. We can't let the boys have all the fun in the STEM fields. I am sure that the boys sometimes have a hard time keeping up with you. It sounds like quite an intense competition. We know from doing Hour of Code that programming isn't always that easy. I know you are planning on doing it again next year but I was wondering, what was your favorite part of FLL?

    1. I DISAGREE with you when you said you think it is great that I am on a team with all boys even though it was a lot of fun. It is true we cannot let the boys have all the fun. It is really intense but we scored really well for a rookie team. My favorite part of FLL is hanging out with all my new friends and learning new ways to have fun.

    1. I did have a lot of fun. I made new friends too. {even though they were boys} I learned a lot about working together during any event. I am definitely going to do it again next year.

    1. I am planning on doing robotics again next year. I hope I will NOT be on a team with all boys though. Maybe I will ask one of my friends to be on my team. Robotics is a lot of fun. It is a good way to make new friends.

  4. Hello Lainie. I'm writing to you from Colorado. My students love robotics as well. We just finished a Wonder League competition with Dash and Dot robots. I agree that robotics is a lot of fun and a great way to make new friends. I hope you will keep coding and blogging about your experiences. You might enjoy watching our videos about our robotics competition. https://sites.google.com/a/bvsd.org/p2pelemtech/wonderleague

  5. Hi, Lainie. Great blog post, and I like your team name, Thinkronauts. I'm glad you were able to still have a good time even though your team wasn't quite the way you'd hoped it would be--that is an incredible skill to take with you throughout your life since there are always things we can be disappointed about! Keep up the blogging and robotics work!

    1. Dear Mrs. Wade,

Thank you for visiting my blog. I have a lot of experience with being disappointed because I have three bros. I think it is cool to do robotics. Especially, when you are only nine years old like me.
